Travis Mathew Golf Apparel

Inspired by some of the up and coming clothing companies in the golf industry at the 2010 PGA Show in Orlando, I’ve decided to spend some time presenting, applauding, inquiring, and if necessary criticizing some of these brands. Nothing really fancy going into this besides the good old fashioned eye test. First up is a young company out of California that is very quickly moving up the ranks in the golf fashion world, Travis Mathew Golf Apparel.
In short, I really, really, really like what these guys have to offer. It’s definitely not the traditional “country club” look, which golf is thankfully starting to gravitate away from. At least I hope it is. All of the shirts, pants, and sweaters are more slimmer fitting than the golf clothes of yesteryear, and the pants have one key component of good looking, modern golf pants – NO PLEATS. While my grandfather is one of my heroes and I definitely don’t mean to offend him, his pants are for him and mine are for me. He wears pants with pleats, I do not. No hard feelings! That’s just the way it is and the way it’s going to be.
Anyway, one last thing I like about TM is their hats. Pretty basic selection right now, and you can only get so spiffy with a golf hat, but they incorporate something I’m growing more and more fond of with hats in golf, the flat bill. You’re probably used to seeing the flat bill when watching baseball, but this look is gaining some momentum on the golf course, and my guess is that you will see a lot more of it in the future.
Travis Mathew Golf Apparel is a pretty young company, having just founded a few years ago. That hasn’t stopped them from establishing themselves as a real leader in the future of golf fashion. Now that they’ve got a couple more touring professionals on board, it’s only a matter of time before they are in department stores at your local shopping mall. And just so you know, they intentionally left a “t” out of the “Mathew,” so no, I did not misspell it. Thanks.
